When is the Champions League draw? Quarter and semi-final draw date, time, TV channel and how to watch live

The draws for the Champions League quarter and semi-finals will take place later this month after the round of 16 matches have been completed.

All four Premier League clubs who qualified for the competition last season are currently still in contention to win it despite all failing to secure first-leg victories in the first knockout phase.

Both Chelsea and Tottenham will be looking to overturn narrow 1-0 defeats at home this week. Graham Potter’s side were beaten by Borussia Dortmund in their first leg, while Spurs lost against AC Milan in the San Siro.

Manchester City look to be in the strongest position to reach the last eight after earning a 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig in their first-leg, while Liverpool face a mammoth task to get through after being thumped 5-2 by Real Madrid at Anfield.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich, Benfica, Inter Milan and Serie A leaders Napoli all won their first-leg matches to boost their chances of making it to the latter stages.

Here’s all you need to know about the Champions League draw:

When are the Champions League quarter and semi-final draws?

The draw for both the quarter and semi-finals will take place at 11am on Friday 17 March in Uefa’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland after all last-16 ties have concluded.

Subscribers to BT Sport – which has exclusive rights to the competition in the UK – will be able to watch it live on TV from 11am, or stream it via the BT Sport website or on the BT Sport App here.

You can also watch the draw for free on the BT Sport YouTube channel here, with the stream also starting at 11am.

Can Premier League clubs play against each other?

The Premier League’s four-strong contingent were kept apart in the last-16 draw as clubs from the same national association cannot be drawn against each other at that stage of the competition.

That changes from the quarter-final onwards, however, as it is an open draw. That means in theory Premier League clubs could face one another in the last eight or final four.

There is also the possibility of clubs facing teams that they have already met in the group stage after being in different pots in the last-16 draw.

When are the Champions League quarter-finals?

The first legs will be played on Tuesday 11 April and Wednesday 12 April, with the return fixtures played the following week on Tuesday 18 April and Wednesday 19 April.

The semi-finals will take place a month later, beginning on Tuesday 9 May and Wednesday 10 May and concluding the following week.

This year’s Champions League final is being held on Saturday 10 June at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
