Leicester 2-3 Tottenham (Daka 24′, Maddison 76′ | Kane 38′, Bergwijn 90+4′, 90+6′)
Steven Bergwijn scored twice deep into stoppage time to secure an improbable 3-2 comeback victory for Tottenham against Leicester at the King Power.
Spurs made a flying start to the game with Harry Kane having one effort cleared off the line by Luke Thomas before seeing another hit the crossbar from the corner, while Davinson Sanchez also missed a golden opportunity give the visitors the lead in the opening 20 minutes.
But as is so often the case in the Premier League, Spurs were made to rue their profligacy as Leicester went in front against the run of play through Patson Daka. Handed a rare start with Jamie Vardy sidelined through injury and Kelechi Iheanacho away at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Zambian seized his chance with a well-taken finish.
Spurs fought back though and levelled through Kane before half-time. The England captain raced onto Harry Winks’ probing pass forward, turned Caglar Soyuncu inside out and side-footed a finish into the bottom corner. It added to his remarkable record against the Foxes with whom he had an unhappy loan spell in 2013; this was his 18th goal in only 17 matches against them.
Antonio Conte’s side continued to have chances after the restart but the hosts looked threatening on the counter-attack and it was from a break that they scored what looked certain to be the winner. Harvey Barnes’ first contribution after coming on as a substitute was to tee up James Maddison, whose deflected effort bobbled past Hugo Lloris.
However, Bergwijn, who was brought on as a substitute with 11 minutes remaining, had other ideas, rifling in a half-volley in the 95th minute of time before rounding Schmeichel and slotting into an empty net two minutes later to stretch Conte’s unbeaten run in the Premier League to nine games.

Kane: We fully deserved the victory | Bergwijn: We need to build on this
“We fully deserved the victory, we were the better side,” said Kane after the game. “We were disappointed to go 2-1 down with 15 minutes to go but we kept creating chances and you’ve just got to never give up. This guy [Bergwijn] came on and made a big difference but to get two goals like that… they are games that you’ll never forget for the rest of your career.
“I should have had a couple more today, I’ll be thinking about them [missed chances] tonight but when you win it doesn’t hurt as much! Credit to the team, credit to all the boys for not giving up all the way until the final whistle and yeah, it was a great night for us.”
Bergwijn added: “Like Harry said, it was a rollercoaster of emotions. Of course, if I came on I want to show myself and today I scored two goals, I’m really happy. We have a lot of important games and need to build from this. We showed that we are a team.”
