Ian Wright believes Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares could be in hot water with Mikel Arteta over his angry reaction to being substituted in the first half of the FA Cup third round tie against Nottingham Forest.
Tavares had endured an error-strewn 33 minutes on the pitch, which included allowing a pass to roll underneath his studs and out for a throw-in, conceding a corner with an attempted pass back to Bernd Leno and numerous misplaced passes.
After one sloppy mistake too many, Arteta summoned Kieran Tierney from the bench with the Scotland international taking Tavares’ place at left-back. As the 21-year-old trudged off the pitch, he removed both of his gloves and threw them to the floor in disgust.
Nottingham Forest fans certainly revelled in Tavares’ misery, jeering him as he threw his gloves to the floor, before chanting: “You’re going to cry in a minute.”
“He started very poorly,” Wright said on ITV at half-time. “He is coming off and he’s thrown his gloves down, I think this is the wrong manager to do that with.
“Showing that kind of attitude. I think the disrespect he is showing at the minute is something Mikel Arteta won’t like, especially given the performance he has put in.”
Arteta is developing a reputation for having a ruthless streak after stripping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of the captaincy and then ostracising the striker from his plans due to a disciplinary breach last month.

“Okay a player can make a mistake, but that sloppiness is down to his attitude and the way he started the game.
“You can’t start a game like that or you will get dragged off.”
