Man Utd team news: Predicted 4-2-3-1 line-up vs West Ham as Victor Lindelof cares for his wife after burglary

Manchester United have launched an extensive security review after the family of Victor Lindelof suffered a terrifying home break-in.

The defender’s wife and small child were at home at the time of the burglary, which took place while the Swedish international was in action for United at Brentford on Wednesday.

Lindelof has been given compassionate leave and will not be available for United’s game with West Ham on Saturday, with club captain Harry Maguire replacing him.

And manager Ralf Rangnick has revealed that club officials and security experts will be advising players on safety options.

“Yes, for sure we will have other meetings,” said Rangnick. “The club will speak to players about what kind of measures could be taken to increase the level of security; what’s necessary and where can the club support the players in this area.

“It is something the club will speak to the players about in the next couple of weeks and, hopefully, be able to make their houses more safe and secure in the future.

“I spoke with Victor at length on our flight back home from London and also this morning.

“We spoke for 20 or 25 minutes, he told me what actually happened, that this was a traumatic event, especially for his wife and three-year-old son.

“He said to me right now he needs to stay at home, he doesn’t want to leave his wife and family on their own, which I can fully understand, being a father of two children myself. We agreed he will not be on duty tomorrow for the game.”

Jadon Sancho is also a doubt against West Ham, having been given leave this week due to a family bereavement.

And the United manager has also revisited the issue of Cristiano Ronaldo reacting angrily to being substituted at Brentford – and conceded that his histrionics did not benefit anyone.

“I didn’t at all see or interpret that he was challenging me,” said Rangnick.

“He just showed maybe too emotionally that he was not happy to be replaced.

“I don’t blame him for that but obviously any manager I think would wish it shouldn’t be too emotional and also in front of the TV cameras.

“I don’t think that this will be for the benefit of anyone, not to his benefit, not to the benefit of the teammates and in the end it’s an emotional game and players are being emotional and I didn’t take it personally at all.”

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Dalot, Maguire, Varane, Telles; Fred, McTominay; Greenwood, Fernandes, Elanga, Ronaldo
