The draw for the knockout stages of the Champions League is taking place on Monday.
All four English sides are through to the last 16, having successfully navigated some tricky looking groups in significantly shortened time.
But while Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City and Tottenham can all dream of glory, Celtic and Rangers were both knocked out after coming bottom of their groups.
The group stages usually last until mid-December, but with the Fifa World Cup in Qatar on the horizon the fixtures were completed by the beginning of November, with the knockout fixtures starting in February next year.
What time is the Champions League draw today?
The Champions League draw is taking place at 11am UK time on Monday 7 November.
Subscribers to BT Sport – which has exclusive rights to the competition in the UK – will be able to watch the proceedings live on TV from 11am, or via the BT Sport App here.
You can also watch the draw for free on the BT Sport YouTube channel here, with the stream also starting at 11am.
Which teams are through to the Champions League round of 16?
The following eight teams qualified for the knockout stages as group winners:
- Bayern Munich
- Benfica
- Chelsea
- Manchester City
- Napoli
- Porto
- Real Madrid
- Tottenham
These are joined by the eight teams who came runner-up in the group stages:
- AC Milan
- Borussia Dortmund
- Club Bruges
- Eintracht Frankfurt
- Inter Milan
- Leipzig
- Liverpool
- Paris St-Germain
Who will the English teams face?
The main principle is simple: winners of each group will be drawn against a runner-up from the group stages.
However, teams from the same group or nation cannot meet in the last 16, which limits the choices for many clubs.
Liverpool, for example, are only eligible to face four teams from the winners’ pot – here’s how it works for each of the English clubs that qualified:
Chelsea
Chelsea overcame a nightmare start under Thomas Tuchel to top their group after Graham Potter’s appointment. In theory, they are likely to be rewarded with a straightforward path to the last eight.
- Club Brugge
- Inter Milan
- Frankfurt
- Borussia Dortmund
- RB Leipzig
- Paris Saint-Germain
Manchester City
Erling Haaland has already scored five goals in Europe this season, helping City to cruise through the group stages. An injury has hampered the striker since then and Pep Guardiola will want him back firing for the knockouts.
- Club Brugge
- Inter Milan
- Paris Saint-Germain
- Real Madrid
- RB Leipzig
- Shakhtar Donetsk
Liverpool
If Liverpool’s domestic form were not worrying enough, they have left themselves with a mountain to climb in Europe too, with Porto and Benfica the kindest possible opponents next up.
- Porto
- Bayern Munich
- Real Madrid
- Benfica
Tottenham
Despite a Marseille onslaught, Spurs held their nerve at the Stade Velodrome to top the group courtesy of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s late winner. That could be vital to their chances of reaching the quarter-finals, with Club Brugge the most appealing opposition.
- Club Brugge
- Inter Milan
- AC Milan
- RB Leipzig
- Borussia Dortmund
- Paris Saint-Germain
