England have announced their squad numbers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The official squad photo has also been released, showing the 26 players and manager Gareth Southgate wearing outfits made by the team’s official tailor, Marks and Spencer.

The tournament kicks off on Sunday, with the hosts taking on Ecuador. England’s opening fixture against Iran will be played the following day.

Prince William, who is president of the FA, made a surprise visit to the St George’s Park training ground to join Southgate in revealing the numbers to the players.

The Prince of Wales told the squad: “What you and Gareth have built here is something special, that’s clear to see.
