The Premier League returns from an action-packed Boxing Day with a round of fixtures starting on Tuesday 28 December and all shown live on Amazon Prime.
A total of 10 games were available to watch on Amazon Prime’s streaming service at the start of the month and as part of their existing deal with the Premier League – that runs until the end of the 2021-22 season – a further 10 matches were due to be broadcast between Tuesday 28 December and Thursday 30 December.
However, as has become sadly customary of late, a few games have been postponed due to Covid-related issues. Arsenal’s match with Wolves at the Emirates and Leeds’ fixture against Aston Villa at Elland Road have both been called off, so too Everton against Newcastle, leaving seven matches in the gameweek.
Amazon, along with the Premier League’s other UK-based broadcasters Sky Sports and BT Sport, agreed to a three-year renewal deal in May which expires at the end of the 2024-25 season.
There were some excellent matches during Amazon’s first round of fixtures at the beginning of December, including Newcastle’s nail-biting 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Norwich City, Liverpool’s 4-1 thrashing of Everton in the Merseyside derby and Manchester United’s thrilling comeback victory against Arsenal.
There are some interesting match-ups to come during this round too, including Leicester vs Liverpool at the King Power. Brendan Rodgers will be hoping for an improved showing from his squad after they were trounced by Manchester City on Boxing Day, although a well-rested Liverpool are hardly ideal opponents for the injury-hit Foxes.
If no other matches are postponed due to Covid, there will be four matches shown on Tuesday, with three of those games kicking off at 3pm.
There are two games apiece on December 29 and 30, with Chelsea entertaining Brighton at Stamford Bridge and Brentford welcoming Manchester City to west London on Wednesday. Then on Thursday, Manchester United face Burnley.
Every match is available to stream on Amazon Prime on a variety of devices including TV’s, mobiles or tablets, games consoles and more. An Amazon Prime membership costs £7.99 a month or £79 for a year, while those without a membership can sign up for a 30-day free trial to take advantage of the live football.
