Netherlands boss Mark Parsons believes that this year’s Euros will be the biggest tournament in women’s football history.
The Englishman has taken over the reins after Sarina Wiegman made the move to the Lionesses and is looking forward to a showcase which could act as a catalyst for the game across Europe.
“This will be the biggest tournament in women’s football, the biggest showcase in women’s football,” he said.
“It is growing so fast but also it’s in a country that has invested so much money in women’s football.
“Not just money, in all areas. For example, media, broadcasting and now it’s on TV more often on women’s football you have ex-players from men’s football which I think is huge.
“Of course we’re thinking about the growth of women’s football so this could help the future. I’m eyes on the prize, I think the quality in this tournament is going to be the highest we’ve seen.
“I think we’ll enjoy it the most, the best of women’s football now. I think as a result of this, as a by-product we’re going to see it explode after.”
The Netherlands open their account on Saturday when they take on world No 2-ranked side Sweden at Bramall Lane in Group C.

And Parsons believes that teams should be prepared for the Dutch to be able to take advantage of them.
“We’ve got a lot of different weapons and you’re going to see a team that’s trying to exploit the space that the opponent is giving,” he added.
“Everyone has a choice in defending, they’re going to stop you in some areas which means it opens up. We can read what the opponent is going to do to stop us and we’re ready take advantage of others.”
Both sides are contenders to win the Euros with their respective strong records in the international game.
They met in the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup, where the Netherlands were the victors before eventually finishing as runners up.
Parsons added: “I think everyone in women’s football wants to see these two teams play against each other and there’s quite a bit of history.”
